Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, one of Books in Common’s first authors, has released a new novel, BEFORE WE VISIT THE GODDESS.
BEFORE WE VISIT THE GODDESS is a powerful novel about three generations of women. Her novel carries the reader from the countryside of Bengal, India to Houston, Texas. Chitra masterfully captures the complex relationships between mothers and daughters and the multi-generational love that bonds family.
Chitra has authored more than a dozen novels, including her book of short stories, ARRANGED MARRIAGE, winner of an American Book Award. Several of her works have been made into films and plays. In addition to writing, she currently teaches at the University of Houston, in the nationally ranked Creative Writing program.
