Nnedi writes African-based science fiction, fantasy and magical realism for both children and adults.  Born in the United States to Nigerian parents, Nnedi shines at weaving African culture into unforgettable characters and settings.  Her adult novel, THE BOOK OF PHEONIX, was released in 2015.  When not hard at work at writing, Nnedi is a professor of creative writing and literature at the University of Buffalo.

Each year, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) presents the Nebula Awards to the best science fiction or fantasy fiction published the previous year.  Termed one of the most important of the American science fiction awards, winning works are often published in special collections.  The Nebula Awards began in 1966 and are awarded in four categories of different lengths.
