Matt de la Peña wins 2016 Newbery Medal

Matt de la Peña has every reason to be proud: his second picture book, Last Stop on Market Street, was recently announced as the 2016 Newbery Medal award winner.

Last Stop on Market StreetThe John Newbery Medal is a literary award given by the American Library Association’s Association for Library Service to Children that recognizes the year’s most outstanding contribution to children’s literature. It is a prestigious award, and one that took de la Peña entirely by surprise.

Brooklyn-based de la Peña is a well-known and well-respected YA author, and this new accolade promises to bring him even more well-earned acclaim. We would love to help bring him to speak at your venue. If you are interested in hosting him, contact us.
