Last November, the Garfield High School hosted author Jamie Ford for a One Book, One School program. Jamie Ford’s first novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, is set in the same city (Seattle) as the high school. Students took part in a walking tour of Seattle’s International District, discussed the book, and were treated to a visit with Jamie.
Now, Garfield High School has submitted a video describing this program with Jamie Ford to the 2013 Follet Challenge. This contest rewards dynamic programs at schools throughout the United States and Canada. Public voting begins on video entries February 6. Jamie Ford’s next book, tentatively titled Songs of Willow Frost, is scheduled for publication in 2014.
