After writing countless college essays for high school students over the years, Dave Eggers realized many soon-to-be college kids had no idea what was in store for them financially. He founded ScholarMatch in 2010, a nonprofit designed to match crowd-sourced donors with college students in need of financial aid.
Eggers, bestselling author of The Circle and A Hologram for the King, a 2012 National Book Award finalist, is also a co-founder of 826 Valencia, a nonprofit tutoring and writing center for youth in San Francisco. His dedication to helping students become better writers continues with ScholarMatcher, a recent addition to ScholarMatch providing academic and postgraduate counseling services.
When he is not helping college students, Dave may be working at McSweeny’s, his own independent publishing house, speaking at a Books In Common event, or writing another hit novel. To learn more about his schedule or to invite him to speak at your next event, contact Books In Common.
