What are LitBits?National Parks Centennial: Protect, Connect, Inspire

It’s been said that our national parks are “America’s best idea.” As the National Park Service turns 100 on August 25, 2016, this is the year to celebrate the centennial of a very American effort. The story of the NPS is the story of people who fought for the protection of places that have helped define our national identity; places we now hold dear.
At a moment when the American mind was beginning to shift from the concept of wilderness as something to conquer to a more romantic notion of nature, the NPS founders battled progress, greed and ignorance to become the architects of our family vacations, and the inventors of icons with worldwide appeal. The theme of the NPS centennial celebration is “Protect, Connect, Inspire.” These books below will do just that.
