Garth Stein, speaker and author of the bestselling novel The Art of Racing in the Rain, will speak at the Lopez Island Library on June 13, 2015 in Woodmen Hall.
Garth’s visit, set up through the Friends of Lopez Library, will include a reading from his newest book, A Sudden Light. The story follows the unfolding secrets of a family during their most tumultuous moments; after moving into Riddell House, fourteen year old Trevor discovers a strong-willed spirit haunting the old mansion threatening to tear the family further apart. Family relations and existentialism are explored against the scenic backdrop of the Pacific Northwest.
The Art of Racing in the Rain has sold more than 4 million copies around the world and is development to become a full-length film starring Patrick Dempsey with Universal Studios. When not writing plays, directing and producing documentary films, and writing novels, Garth is hard at work with Seattle7Writers, a nonprofit organization he co-founded in his home city of Seattle.
