Indian-American Author to Speak on The Immigrant Experience

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Before We Visit the Goddess

Prominent author, Chitra Divakaruni, will speak in Bend, OR as a part of Central Oregon Community College’s Visiting Scholar Program. Chitra will highlight her latest novel, Before We Visit the Goddess, in a discussion about her journey and life experiences before and after emigrating from India to the US.

“I started writing several years after I moved to the United States. So, I think that immigration and moving into a whole different culture, a whole different world, made me into a writer. I think in some ways it gave me perspective on India and a new fresh look at America.”

— Chitra, Divakaruni, from an interview with The Source Weekly
