Garth Stein, author of the New York Times bestselling novel The Art of Racing in the Rain, received a nice surprise when he visited Syracuse, New York: an audience of eager  600-plus readers and a top-notch sound system.

The Onondaga County Public Library hosted the event. Afterward the speaking engagement, one organizer said, “Thanks for everything you did to make this happen.  Garth was a lot of fun to be with, and we’re grateful for his good humor and terrific presentation.  The New York State Senator who secured the grant for the event said from the stage that he thought we had booked an author, but we also got a comedian – good value for New York State money!!”
