Harrison Middle School hosted Reyna Grande, author of The Distance Between Us, to discuss her memoir and her family’s experiences with immigration. The Latina author’s visit and speech inspired students, many of whom are Hispanic and have family members with similar experiences.

The Distance Between Us, Reyna Grande’s memoir, chronicles the struggles she and her siblings faced when both parents immigrated illegally to the US. Reyna Grande is a popular speaker who brings first-hand experience with immigration, the culture clash, and the difficulties of making new lives in America to her speaking engagements.
