Good fiction is good fiction no matter where an author is from. Karen Joy Fowler, author of We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, is one of the five U.S.-based writers on the 13-book long-list for the UK’s prestigious Man Booker Prize.
This is the first year the Man Booker Prize has opened up to outside nationalities and set the standard for fiction at a global scale. “Fiction in English, no matter who written by, no matter where published, is now part of kind of a global scene. Fiction is fiction, and good fiction will always stand comparison with good fiction,” said, judging panel chair, A.C Grayling to an American newspaper.
The six-book shortlist will be announced Sept. 9, the winner will be announced on Oct. 14 in London.
Karen Joy Fowler’s We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves is also the winner of the 2014 PEN/Faulkner award and a California Book award. If you are setting up a literary event and interested in inviting Karen Joy Fowler to speak, contact us today.
