Author Karen Joy Fowler has been selected to teach at the renowned Clarion Writers’ Workshop, which is being held at U.C. San Diego (UCSD) this year. The Clarion Writers’ Workshop was founded in 1968, in Pennsylvania and until 2006, the workshop was housed at the University of Michigan. It was relocated to UCSD in 2007.
The Clarion workshop is a six-week intensive program focused on the fundamentals of fantasy and science fiction writing. Instructors are award-winning, celebrated authors who specialize in these genres, and acceptance into the program in highly competitive: Clarion writers are said to be the among the most promising of their generation.
Fowler is the author of six novels, most recently We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, which was short-listed for the 2014 Man Booker award.
