Naseem Rakha

Naseem Rakha Working as a public radio correspondent, author Naseem Rakha was assigned to cover the execution of a murderer. The issues and questions that arose during her assignment, such as morality and hate as well as the promise of hope, are the cornerstones of her debut novel, The Crying Tree. An unforgettable book, The Crying Tree is about the unbreakable bonds of family and the transformative power of forgiveness.

Rakha is receiving praise for her exceptional writing and ability to gently portray even the most painful elements of human nature. Voted a San Francisco Chronicle Bestseller, The Crying Tree, was also chosen for the Emerging Voices series at the 2009 Book Expo America, and for Barnes & Noble's 2009 autumn “Discover Great New Writers” program. The Crying Tree was also chosen as the only American title on the Richard and Judy Book Club list, the UK's equivalent to Oprah.  

Rakha is an award-winning journalist whose stories have been heard on NPR’s All Things ConsideredMorning EditionChristian Science Monitor and Living on Earth. Her career as a reporter has given her the skills to connect with people and audiences and create a healthy dialogue for considering the values of our culture. She lives in Oregon with her husband and son.
