Elizabeth L. Cline is a New York-based journalist, public speaker and media commentator, and the author of The Conscious Closet: A Revolutionary Guide to Looking Good While Doing Good, a consumer ethical shopping and activist guide set for release in 2019 by Plume/Penguin. With her landmark investigation Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion, 2012, Cline was the first to reveal fast fashion's hidden toll on garment workers, the environment, and even our own satisfaction with our clothes.

Cline holds a degree in political philosophy from Syracuse University and has almost two decades of experience in journalism. She has worked for New York Magazine, AMC, and Sundance TV.com.  Her articles have appeared in the LA Times, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, and The New Republic among others. Cline appears regularly as a television and radio guest commentator on fashion and social justice / the environment. Recent appearances have been on CGTN, MSNBC, NBC, BBC TV, CBC, among others.
