In addition, The Scorpio Races was named a 2012 Michael L. Printz Honor Book by the American Library Association, a New York Times Notable Children's Book, and The New York Times Book Review raved, [Stiefvater] not only steps out of the young adult fantasy box with The Scorpio Races but crushes it with pounding hooves. If The Scorpio Races sounds like nothing you've ever read, that's because it is.

Stiefvater lives in Virginia with her husband and their two children.

Alternate Bio:  After a tumultuous past as a history major, calligraphy instructor, wedding musician, technical editor, and equestrian artist, she's now a full-time writer living in the middle of nowhere, Virginia, with her charmingly straight-laced husband, two kids, four neurotic dogs who fart recreationally, and a 1973 Camaro named Loki.

She's also an award-winning colored pencil artist, plays several musical instruments (most infamously, the bagpipes), and recently acquired a race car.

"MAGGIE WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST. SHE HAS A WONDERFUL FOLLOWING. HER TALK WAS FABULOUS AND FUNNY. THE AUDIENCE LOVED HER. SHE PLAYED THE BAGPIPES WHICH WAS A REAL DELIGHT FOR EVERYONE! I couldn't have asked for a better author to be at our YA Day festival. She is tops in every category. She took the time to talk to everyone, get pictures taken, read tarot cards, and was as pleasant as anyone can be!"
