Kristine Gasbarre

Kristine Gasbarre is the author of the memoir, How to Love an American Man: A True Story (HarperCollins), whose dramatic rights are represented by United Talent Agency in Hollywood. The book has been featured in Target's Emerging Authors program and voted as a selection for Sutter Home Winery's national book club.

Gasbarre co-authored the 16-week New York Times Bestseller, Etched in Sand by Regina Calcaterra. She also co-authored the 2015 memoir Safari by Geoffrey Kent, the longtime travel guide to the stars and pioneer of the luxury travel and ecotourism industries. In 2015, she co-wrote the memoir Raising Ryland with Hillary and Jeff Whittington, the parents of a deaf and transgender child whose deeply touching life story went viral on YouTube in 2014. 

Gasbarre has spoken at women's conferences, colleges and universities, book clubs (both in person and via Skype), women's professional groups, libraries, historical societies, religious organizations, fundraisers and social clubs. She speaks about a wide range of women's and young women's topics: self-actualization among Millennials, career discernment and advancement, the women's travel experience, women's emotional wellness, family history, romantic relationships and the effects of media, advertising and pop music on women's self-perception (as she holds a Master's degree in cultural media studies from Fordham University in New York City). She has led courses on book proposal writing and founded Identity & Intimacy, a relationship conference for young women in New York City.

In 2015, Gasbarre worked on assignment as a writer-reporter for PEOPLE Books, the book publishing division at Time Inc./People Magazine, and she has blogged for such women's sites as Huffington Post Women, Huffington Post Weddings and MariaShriver.com. Gasbarre holds a Bachelor's degree in psychology from John Carroll University in Cleveland and a Master's degree in cultural media studies from Fordham University in New York City. She worked for a major publishing house from 2004 to 2007 and subsequently spent one year living in Italy. She is based in Brooklyn, New York and divides her time to make frequent book-related appearances in her native Western Pennsylvania.
